ESTIMATING SERVICE
Q. What do I need to do to have a job priced?
A. Post to us a copy of your plans and/or specifications.
A letter from yourselves confirming that you require our services giving your contact name,
work or mobile phone number and the address for us to post the estimate to.
The more details you can send through and even photographs, if you have them available,
may help to give us a more accurate and clearer picture of the works involved.
All documents and photographs received will be returned with the completed estimate.
All information given to us is treated as private and confidential and is protected under the data
protection act.
Q. Are there any other details that you need to create an estimate for us?
A. After receiving your written request for an estimate we can commence work on your job,
but will need a few other items to be able to process your work.
We will need to know the costs of various types of labour including the following that you
would prefer to use, if you have no preference will allow standard rates.
- carpenter
- bricklayer
- plasterer
- electrician
- plumber
- painter
- groundworker
- handyman
If we need any further rates we can use national figures which are not necessarily always applicable for local
builders, but we will advise this in due course anyway. On
future jobs, should your rates not
have altered we can re-utilise the information you have given us to prepare your estimates
without any further communication, but nevertheless we can upgrade
within a few minutes further addition information.
Q. Do I need to phone through in advance to confirm job?
A. No we only work off written instructions and will not discuss details with anyone over the
telephone unless we have a
direct dial phone number to the company or person concerned.
Q. Is there a limit to the number of jobs that we can send through?
A. There is no limit set and indeed some clients send batches of two or three jobs at a time.
Q. Can I incorporate prices of materials that we purchase directly cheaper that anyone else?
A. Of course you can, all you need to do is advise us of your special rates that you require to be in the
estimate.
Q. What documentation will you need when giving the estimate supply?
A. We will send you a professionally printed and bound paper report ready to start work.
This features a full breakdown of the work
to be completed in SMM7 format. It also features a summary of
the work with page references to the detailed breakdown.
We will also give you a material printout, of all materials required on the job, together with plant
and full resources in the way of
how many hours it is anticipated the work will take for each trade.
Q. Am I able to have an estimate revised, due to say the works being larger or different in any respect?
A. yes, you have the option to review and revise your estimate at any time and this will be charged out
at an hourly rate.
Q. Do we get a breakdown of different elements of the project works proposed?
A. The estimates are produced on a standard form of Cost Analysis for Building Projects used
throughout the UK to provide data and are down in a standard format and order.
Q. How do I pay for the services of your company?
A. This can be made either in cash, cheque or by credit card prior to the estimate being delivered
to yourselves.
